A mate and i are talking about doing the guineacore fire trail between taralga and wombeyan caves.
Just wondering if anyone has done it decently and if the gate at the wombeyan caves end is locked or open..

That the gate right at the bridge at Goodmans Ford?
Never seen it unlocked. Got a wonderful set of padlocks on it belonging to various services who do have access.

Ben,

Just looking at 50k maps of the area (admittedly old) and satellite maps on OziExplorer, that track seems to stop on private property at a house. On the the fully zoomed satellite images I can see no evidence of a track going any further northeast toward Wombeyan Caves.

Coming the other way from Wombeyan Caves there is a track that heads off in the right direction to the SW, but in the satellite images at full zoom it seems to terminate at an escarpment about 1km northeast of the aforementioned house. To me it appears you can't drive right through.

Cheers

Ok, it must be dooable, just not apparent in the satellite images.

If you get through a report would be appreciated - I for one would like to have a look at some time.

Cheers
