Good Evening Team

One thing has lead to another regarding our Pre Paid Air Time with Inmarsat for our IsatPhones.

It was reported recently that our pre paid credits were no longer being offered at the usual 180 days for the 100 units, 90 days for the 50 units etc, but were going to be reduced to 30 days from the time the voucher is activated.

Well this is not the case and I have had it confirmed today from two service providers from Allsatphone and Satphonesales.

Those customers already with Allstphone can still buy the usual long life vouchers with the same long time expiry and customers with Satphonesales can apply for a free new Sim that will still be through Inmarsat, but through another supplier that can still the supply the usual long life credit.

So if you are with either of these suppliers, do not believe what you hear about the loss of long life credit.

Cheers

Isn't it amazing. In one hand and out the other!!

Luckily for us that is for emergency only so what price insurance etc etc. We have only made two (I think) calls since we got it in 2010. Only one was an emergency on the CSR and the other was a test in 2010 to make sure it worked.

Thanks Malcom we will see what our provider can offer when we put some credit on it next trip which will not be until March. I would hate to be paying a monthly account all these years. Ouch!

Hi Phil

SatphoneSales bought up quite a bit of pre price rise stock so are holding the price until Dec.
Good time to buy but you need to use them before Jan 2017

We were lucky enough to get ours back in 2010 with the govt subsidy.

Hi Malcolm

When I spoke with Satphonesales, they did not mention the December time frame and the price for the new long life 100 unit voucher has not gone up at all and is still $160, the same price that it was before.

Cheers

Could it be that some sellers have a few special and loyal customers and "reserve" a few packages for them. I do believe mine does. In a previous life I had many contacts with mine and I must say a lot of big contract work went their way.

Hi Stephen

This is an email dated June 20 from satphonesales. See para 2
Maybe they sold out of their cheap stock.

Hi,

You can purchase airtime outside of business hours by navigating to our
online store: http://www.satphonesales.com.au/Inmarsat-Long-Life-Airtime .
We will then email your voucher the next business day.

You may be aware that Inmarsat recently reduced the validity period of their
vouchers. We were able to purchase a bulk number of vouchers (which must be
redeemed by 31.12.16) at the old validity period and cost. Please note when
these extended validity period vouchers are sold out the validity period
will reflect the changes Inmarsat have made.

Please be aware that you do you require a sim card from Sat Phone Sales to
be able to use our airtime. We happily post a sim card to you via regular
mail.

To order a sim card and airtime with extended validity period please go to
http://www.satphonesales.com.au/Free-IsatPhone-SIM-Card-regular-mail (to
order your free sim sim) and
http://www.satphonesales.com.au/Inmarsat-Long-Life-Airtime
(to order airtime).

Hi Malcolm

I am fully aware of the above details, but has nothing to do with what I have posted. I have just given them another phone call to confirm what I have posted is 100% correct, and yes it is...here is there number so you can confirm for yourself, 1300 135 457.

Proving you get a new free sim, they have purchased lots of long life credit that will be ongoing for as long as they have the long life credit to sell. At a point of time in the future when they have sold all their newly acquired long life credit, that is when the new short life vouchers will be sold.

So like I have said, please give them a phone call, order your new free sim and as long as they have long life credit, you will be ok.

The December date that you mention was for users that purchased the old long life credit with older sims.

Cheers

Info I obtained from Inmarsat. In terms of the prepaid vouchers, what has happened as we all know from previous posts is that of the 1st of May any new vouchers issued by Inmarsat will have the shorter duration. What this means is that some companies may have had an large existing stock of the old vouchers, and so these can still be offered (but must be redeemed by December 31st 2016) to customers
There will be a time that the old vouchers with the long life will not be available once all stock from all suppliers has been depleted. So dont believe that you can go on forever with the longer expiry days on the minimum prepaid plans.

Exactly. All bets are off Dec 31 with the new prices and durations regardless of old stock.
