I have a Chescold RC1180 fridge /freezer that I wish to secure on a raised section in the rear of my Prado. As those who have one of these units will know there are no handles as such for attaching tie down straps. Has anyone come up with a sucure method of preventing the unit moving while still allowing access to the lid?

When I took my blue 1180 around australia I welded up an 'L' shaped frame to which I secured the fridge. I ran a ratchet strap up and over the fridge, passing lengthwise along the 3-4 inch strip at the back that doesn't hinge. The vertical part of the 'L' frame came up about a foot and I had another ratche strap that ran around the girth of the fridge. I also bought some 1 inch EVA foam from Whitworths marine as a soft base. Did the cape, GRR and bungle bungles great.

Was a pain to move in and out of the vehicle though. Have an EvaKool now.
