Eric
Bring it over my place during the week and we can sit down and compare the two systems point by point and see if we can swap various components to see if we can isolate the problem.
Example plug my lap top and cable into your GPs and see what happens and just keep swaping components until we sort it out.
Sound OK. Don't hit it with a hammer that will certainly not compute.

We used to call computers by the name of Fred, stood for.

I think it applies in your case. LOL

Yeah could be, so by process of elimination we may very well have a lot better chance to sort it out.

If it is the GPS then at least you know and you can get it looked at.

But lets try all options first.

Hi Eric,
you should invest in the "gps vehicle navigation in aust" book by robert pepper
was about $25-$30, really good.
good luck, steve.

Eric,
excuse the latness of this followup!
what type of GPS do you have and what computer software are you running? The reason is that I have a Megallen Maridian colour and have been told that you (me) cannot have it as a moving map because it is not capable of sending messages to a laptop. I have Bluenav and use the laptpo to transfer data to and from the GPS and would love to use the laptop because the screen on the GPS is too small. Is this truley the case, or is there some cable connection and program that will fix this and make this a moving map. PS: my laptop has no serial port, only USB and I use an adapter and it works fine on all prior USB port equipment.
Comments please
Mike
