considering the plenty in 2 weeks time anyone been there recently road reports say 4wd only

"4wd only" probably means there's some road damage/deep wheel tracks from the past couple of rain events, Malcolm.

Unless it rains again in next 2 weeks, it should be good, though you'd want to drive to conditions just the same. About 100kms of bitumen, in sections, on the Donohue, and about the same amount on western end of Plenty, before you hit the Stuart H'way.

i recently drove from tobermoney to boulia and was like a highway .u could drive a hyundai getz along it no prob just sayin. sadly some of these outback highways and roads will all be bitumen soon.

We too plan to travel on the Plenty and Donohue Highways, leaving Alice on 18 July. We note that it is currently reported to have washouts from recent rains and is open but caution is urged.
