North or south of Lovejoy jump up?
Presumably you were on an officially sanctioned trip with appropriate permissions, so contact the organisers.

Peter

Ask those who issued the permits to spread the word. They will know who is following.
North or south of Lovejoy jump up?

An Osprey will have it by now, and he'll be taking selfies with it!

And of course, it could be any number of other birds, who are the thieves, too!! ....

I would contact Ronnie from Just over the hills
justoverthehills@gmail.com

We were out there with Ronnie around those dates and didnt see it but given Ronnie runs regular trips out there he would be your best bet.

Some awesome 4wdriving and country out there. Consider myself blessed to have been able to experience the area.
