Hi all,
I had the benefit recently of cutting across from the Hunt Oil Road to the David Carnegie Road.
I was most interested to try and find a soak that Harry Swincer found when he was exploring in 1896.
He called it a "small soak with water shewing in the bed of limestone creek"
He also inscribed a board left on top of Mount Allott by Carnegie. When Carnegie re passed in 1897 he found it. “& Water in limestone ck. 15 m WSW from here, & 4.5 m. N of small hill – 16 ms SW S – visible fr. here. Oct. 5 1896. Swincer & Haden”
I think I have found it however it seems to be a pool now due to the rains.

I have nicknamed it Swincer Pool.
There is a limestone edge and I would estimate the pool to be about 2 metres deep.

There is good camping with a grove of trees on the highland bank.

It is pretty equidistant (with HOR being just closer) from the adjacent access roads.

It would be a nice place to camp for a few days. If you do visit then please take all the normal remote area precautions.
Cheers
Alan
