went to
melbourne 4x4 show on the weekend ,spoke to rep at wholesale transmissions regarding warranties,with our ford car the warranty is 2 years if the gearbox is repaired and fitted by them but if the gearbox is repaired by them and fitted by your own mechanic it is only 12 months,did not ask about 4wds i should have

depends if you want 1 year or 2 years warranty on gearbox repairs

sounds about right wholesale automatics have done alot of good things for autoboxes. reason they offer 2 years is they can follow up who has worked on your gearbox installed etc if some pleb at xyz garage does it then 12 months is fair enough
just wish i could afford (justify) cost of getting torque convertor lock up kit for the prado which disconnects at slightest

there is a reason for that.
Because the clutch it uses to lock up is tiny.
On a VDJ its not much bigger than a CD, and very expensive to replace
