Hi all
Was planning on going on a trip (first time) to birdsville and then head east towards Rockhampton , starting tomorrow. I see most of the roads are closed due to rain. Does anyone know how long these roads are closed for, that's if they are able to give out that type of information? l could also first head up to Rockhampton and then across to Birdsville next week if l knew the conditions 'might' be better.. I will be in Landcruiser.

Ta , Nick

They were letting vehicles leave Birdsville today, Nick, but we think only through Bedourie & Boulia.

If you went to Rocky first, then worked your way to Birdsville, the roads will probably be open over the next few weeks. Plenty to see around Longreach and Winton.........lots to see around Winton! And then there's Boulia & Bedourie.

Country looks fabulous at the moment, and there's lots of wild flowers scattered along the highways.

Road open through to Boulia today, with a BIG line up for fuel at the only servo.

Makes you wonder why they didn't top up in Bedourie? Any Landcruisers, and there didn't appear to be too many in the photos, should have been able to get through to Winton from Birdsville.

Just another example of human nature at work...........

Did check all the local authorities - only got pre-recorded messages saying which roads are closed-knew that through the net.
Thanks Bob for that tip to check out other towns - just don't know which places/where to go as it's all new to me. Will just head up the east coast and head towards Winton and see what happens from there. Weather is supposed to be sunny for the next week according to google- hence why l'm wondering how long it normally takes to dry out for the roads to re-open.
Thanks for the quick replies!

I believe the only road open from Birdsville is the Birdsville Development Road with 300mm over a creek, the Boulia Road has 700mm at one of the creeks and obviously closed, Big Red Road is closed, both Arrabury and Cordillo Downs Roads are closed

cheers
