Did you check out the drivers seat Stephen?

Looks like a beer crate with a club chair on top. I'd hate to put it on any corrugations LOL

Cheers

ACD

That was quite common with the drivers seat. It was simply a box, and a strong one at that, which could be used to store tools etc. My older brother had an old Studebaker and both front seats were mounted on one. Similar to this one:

That RV would be worth too much to realy use for touring. Excellent job and my hat off to the repo who did it.

There was an article in Current Affairs about a bloke from Canowindra, near Cowra in NSW who was selling his Holden collection. He had an FJ and was expecting $1,000,000 for just it. Apparently there are only six in original condition.

Incredable collection.

I don't know if Brocky ever drove it at Bathurst though.

I just love the shear simplicity of the old stuff - the new stuff is great, but the old stuff really illustrates that pioneer spirit. ( I had an old landcruiser on the farm that I had a milk crate with an old plastic chair cable tied to it as the drivers seat - never on the public road though).

I saw a YouTube video of an old wooden spoked tourer pushing through some serious mud - I couldn't do that with my landcruiser (the weight would kill it). I can't remember if it was the same video or another one where the vehicle tipped over so they limbed out and just tipped it back on its wheels an tootled off.

Nice link by the way - I used to have a blue one of those XU-1 toranas. The power to weight ratio was absolutely stupid. I reckon it was one of the quickest, sportiest cars I ever owned. Looking at the auction estimate, I am feeling distinctly ripped off selling mine for $1000 in 1989

Cheers
