Hi again everyone,
Enquired about Gouldian Finches earlier and got some great spots to checkout.
Now would like to know of any
places where the Painted Finches had been seen in the last couple of years. The brother and I are heading over to the NT and WA area from
Katherine to Broom, and along the
Gibb River road up to
Kalumburu area next year. Would like to see them in the wild and try and get a couple of photos of them. Thanks to anyone who can help us in this area.
Regards Ray.

They are seen all year round at
Karratha
All the dirt roads inland from the coast, especially water holes, just sit and wait. I have thousands of firetail photos from there. Dry country is the most productive for bird photos, just find water and wait till late in the day. Stay away from creeks, bores are better (just one watering point). There are many points like this within 20 klm of
Karratha. Have a look at the early work on-
flickr.com
search for Jim Bendon
Good luck
Jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the info on the Painted Finch. For the up coming trip it's a bit south of out intended trip. We'll only go south as far as Broom, than head east up the
Gibb River road. Will print your reply out and put it in a folder for a trip over that way later on.
Thanks again Ray.
