Hi Everyone,
Is the product ' Biomagic' still available? I am currently in
Broken Hill. So far have not found a store in SA that stocks it.
thanks Bob.

Why pay for an expensive product like that?
Go to Coles or Woolies and buy their
Home Brand Laundry Soaker.
Check that it has 34% Sodium Percarbonate as the active product.
Put one capful in with about a litre of water and empty it after 3 days.

Works better for us than Bio Magic too. Despite the cost we had paid, we never used Bio Magic again after trying the Sodium Percarbonate.

I second the use of the Soaker brands. Aldi sometimes have a 2kg bottle on sale for $6. Good value as does The Reject
Shop. All 34%.
Has anyone bought pure sodium percarbonate? Its advertised on Ebay at a competitive price if you have to use a lesser amount.
I assume if its pure, then not as much is needed.
However, are there other chemicals in the Soaker that contribute to the efficiency of the solution in the cassete?

No, you don't need the other stuff Bill - the less additives the better.
Home brewers who use Sodium Percarbonate for sterilising bottles use it for their cassettes.

hi
We have bought and used Biomagic for last few years. IMHO much better than nasty chemical options and works our very cheap as 1 bottle lasts for ever.
try camping stores in more remote regions as thats where we found it.

100% Sodium Percarbonate is very cheap from brewers supplies. Only a teaspoon is required.

Could someone explain exactly what sodium percarbonate does, it sterilises but what else, does it kill smells and renders waste to a biodegradable state that could for instance be thrown on the garden ?
Thanks

There is anaerobic and aerobic actions. Anaerobic action causes the smells and sodium percarbonate gives oxygen to alter the reaction to aerobic which does not smell but just breaks the waste down/
Not a chemist but my understandin of what we are doing

Give it a go Hooks, you won't regret it. It is no longer called Nappy soaker, but Laundry soaker. A photo of it in the link Gone Bush gave.
