Ive had2 2h motors
total kms about 260k

great motor, cant kill them but shocking on fuel and the head is a major issue in summer
as they are prone to cracking
wished I had your luck over 500k
id save a fortune
wouldnt happen to be the 12ht in the hj61 would it ????

A good mate of mine, now unfortunately deceased, bought a HJ60 1984 model in around 1986 with low k's.
Many trips and many, many years later the body started rusting around the roof line. Apparently not that uncommon for the 60's.
He sold it to another guy that was doing up a 60 and was looking for a wrecker to use for spares.
Apart from doing the injectors at around 250,000 k's all he did was normal servicing to the engine.
A few other repairs such as uni joints, wheel and gearbox seals were done and when he got rid of it it had over 500,000 on the clock. I can't remember the exact number.

I service mine every 5000ks only done miner things to it no rust as yet but I put fish oil through it once a year.john

My 1988 (12ht) hj61 has 507000kms. As far as I know, the engine / inj pump / injectors etc have never been touched. I get about 11l/100km, there is no blow-by or smoke. I had it dyno'd last year and it is still producing close to factory spec power / torque figures. In 4 weeks time I am driving it from Bunbury to Broome for a 3 week holiday.
My previous 1983 hj60 (2h) had 495000 when I sold it, and was (is) still going strong

I got 300k out of a Nissan 4.2 td with only oil and grease services.

Oops I did have to replace the alternator.

A relative of mine had a HJ60 with over 500K on it towing a trailer nearly everyday of it's life and all he ever did to it was replace one injector, yes 1. They recommended he replace them all but he asked if the others were faulty and the reply was no. Tight europeans.....
