Hi all
I am looking at doing a trip up from
Omeo to
Tom Groggin via Davis Plain Track and then up Mt Pinnabar from the East and somehow work back to
Dargo. All of this over cup weekend
Question is. Given the recent torrential rains, has anyone been in those parts lately ? If yes, what were the tracks like?. Anyone numbers for anyone i can ask?

Davies Plain Track won't open till end of November. Mt Pinnibar can be ok or bad depending on the recent conditions and the last time it was graded
Call Parks Vic and ask for the
ranger at the
Omeo office. They are great and will call you back if they aren't in. It may take a few days if they are out and about though. Direct is 03 5159 0600

No one will have been on most of those tracks recently as they are currently closed. As said Davies Plain wont be open for at least another 6 weeks (more if it keeps raining) & the climb out of
Tom Groggin given any rain at all will be very slippery requiring mud tyres & a winch. As with any High Country trip on opening weekend take a decent chainsaw as there will be heaps of trees down this season.

G'day Hans, the Davies Plains Track will be opened as posted on the Parks site, subject to funding for some Bulldozer work.
Check with
Tom Groggin Station and
Omeo Tourism, they should be able to help. The
Ranger at
Omeo has been re-allocated to other duties.
Subject to local advice at the time you should be right. The westerly routes via Pinnibar should work as an alternative. The Murray Crossing at Dogmans Hut may need a boat if the rain doesn't ease up.
Cheers
dad

Parks Vic have advised that Davies Plains Trk will be closed until 30th November at least.
Best you
check the Parks web site as they currently advise that 41 tracks will remain closed until 30/11/16 due to wet conditions.
