Gday
Well after the rain and wind we have had over the last few weeks, we decided to do a trip up to the lower high country. I watched the rain and the river hights for weeks. The last reading on Wednesday, the river was 1.6m and then i was told the Avon river was the fastest flowing river in Victoria.
So off we went Saturday morning , weather looked good. Air down and up the dirt we went. When we arrived at the first crossing i wondered where the 1.6 m deep river was . Possibly 100mm more than usual, but after 6 more crossings we were still looking for the high water. The road was dusty and in pretty good condition. So camp out and do the same trip back to town Sunday morning . All is good , just a pleasant weekend away with my friends.

I used to have a holiday house at Coongulla on Lake Glenmaggie, I think you will find that the Avon is the fastest rising river in Victoria, we used a lot of fun crossing it on the motor bikes!

Good to see the sun god was with you and not the rain god.

Gday Murray
Almost better than a family gathering. We did get a bit of head wind on the way home , but all is well.

That's unfair Muz - you need to take a bigger share of the mud, floods and miserable weather !

Gday
I must say that we have been up that valley more than twenty times in the last few years. The weather in Melbourne can be rather nasty , but up that valley it has rained only once while we were there. One week we stayed four nights and the wind sounded like a 747 taking off, but only a breeze where we camped.
