Dr Cashews
Hi Folks,
My partner and I are heading back to
Perth from
Brisbane on the 17th of November.
We intend to travel via
Innamincka to
Lyndhurst and on to
Streaky Bay via
Roxby Downs and
Woomera. How are the current road conditions?
We are both familiar with desert temps having worked in the
Pilbara for the last 5 years and are expecting high 30s to low 40s.
Any advice would be
well received.
Doc..

Hi Doc
The way this year has been going Doc, it will not be the hot temperatures that you may have to look out for, it will be the rain.
Local forecasts have is wet until after Chridtmas this year and all outback roads here in SA have been on the open one day, closed the next.
Just a matter of keeping a very close watch on where the rain is falling if it is wet before to head there.
Cheers
Stephen

If it is not wet it could be like this......
Nov 11th 2009.
Near 50C and blowing a gale.
In a word, dangerous in the event of a
breakdown.
10 days ago the road conditions were fine....
Cheers,
Peter

What the others said. This year the closures have been somewhat more than past years. (We got into
Innamincka from the east not long after it opened, left two days later and the next day all three Inna access routes were closed).
Keep an eye on the
SA Roads site and have a
Plan B, and you'll be right.
