Hi All,
I've been planning using the meerine loop to get to Ayers Rock to Alice Springs, and have not to date seen anything that stated that I required an ' Aboriginal Land Pass'...but today I received a pamphlet that has a rough (very rough) tourist'y type map that has the meerinie loop on it...and states that one is required????????.....any confirmations out there?.

Cheers,
Mick.

Yes you do need a pass I am not sure how much they are but you can buy them at either kings Canyon or Herrmensberg. Just chk that it is open still as we have had a lot of rain here 2inches since last night and I do know it gets closed and is very scary in the wet.

Just go to the Mobil at the Kings Canyon Resort. Last time I bought one it was whole $2.20 a car (cheapest thing at the resort!!)
Hope that helps
Might run into you when your in Yulara, if it is raining you might be lucky the photo on the profile was the water on the rock the other week. One word "Spectacular"

Hi,
I think it's about $ 2.50.
You now have to get it at the Reception of the Kings Canyon Resort.
They won't give it to you if it's been raining and the road has been closed.

Mike.

Spot on Tom, use caution in the wet.

A 4wd was rolled about 10k out of Glen Helen on Sun arvo. They weren't going fast so no injuries.

The West Macs are getting a heap of rain, I can't even remember when it started. 2 weeks ago or 3?

Late wet season or early Queens B'day long weekend?

Hi Pyalong, travelled the Mereenie Loop Rd in 2002 and got our pass from the Kings Canyon store for a nominal amount. Can't remember the exact amount but it was about $10.

See Ya

Yes, aas all above have said you do need a pass. Travelled this road in September 2000 and found it to be the most corrugated road I've ever driven on^^^^^^ :---;
If you're towing I'd ask how long since the grader's been through. If it's recent, OK. If not..^^^^^^^

Drove this road last month. Was very rough and slow going but made it without incident. Was towing our camper trailer which also made it no worries. We did it the reverse way, buying our pass in Alice.Cost was about $2.20.

Cheers

Hi David,

In about 4 weeks time I will be heading the same way, from Hermannsburg to Kings Canyon. How long did it take you to drive the loop road ?

Regards,
Mark

Hi Mick,

Just had a look at my itinerary, if everything runs to plan we will be on the loop road on the 28th June, heading towards Kings Canyon.

I will be driving a GU Patrol Wagon ( Pewter Grey ) with Rhino Basket on top. Mate will be in a 100 Series Cruiser Wagon ( Silver ) with ECB Rack.

Who knows, we will probably see you around somewhere.

Regards,
Mark
