Hi everyone, we've just uploaded the first tutorial in our new series of video instructions for the ExplorOz Traveller app. This first one covers step-by-step how to get the app and is designed for people that are new to using apps, and mobile devices. Very basic but hopefully useful to some of you.

Thank you. I know it was a very basic topic.

I have wanted to do this type of video tutorial for years but couldn't make it happen due to lack of compatible devices, lack of knowledge, lack of time etc. So feeling somewhat accomplished that we have succeeded thus far!

I have a full list of necessary topics for the app tutorials to do and confident we'll have quite a few done well before Xmas. As they say, "stand by"...

Hi Michelle - top effort thanks - I certainly need all the guidance available - which may become obvious by the next question: Is that app applicable on only the one device or can you log on from each of the laptop, phone and tablet?

Thanks - Phil

Hi Phil, no problem. ExplorOz Traveller is purchased from the App Store if you have an iPad or iPhone or Google Playstore if you have an Android phone or Android tablet. It is not able to be used on a laptop computer or windows phone.

So, as with all apps purchased through the these two app stores, once you buy an app, you can download it onto any other compatible devices you own provided you log into your store account the same way. The first time you will press the buy button and then the install. The next time you load it to another device you'll only need to click the Get and Install buttons. The two stores compete with one another for customer share, so the only time you would need to buy it more than once was if you had devices on different platforms - ie. an iPad and an Android would mean you'd need to buy it separately from each store.

However, that's just the $59.99 base app. Whatever in-app purchases you make (or qualify for) is controlled via your ExplorOz account - this is why the app requires you to login to validate the entitlements.

There are 2 in-app purchase options. The first is Track Logging - $29.99 for non-members or included free for Members. So if a Member logs into the app they instantly enable the tracking.

The other in-app purchase is the Offline EOTopo Premium Maps. The app really needs this to perform as it is intended but anyone who has previously purchased the EOTopo200K mapset over the past 3 years since we've been selling it, will not have to pay again - provided they log into the app with their ExplorOz account, their previous purchase will be recognised and they will have instant access to download the Premium Maps at no charge. Note - whilst they are a totally diffrerent format, and you don't actually use the maps you previously bought, we are just honouring those customers previous purchase. Customer loyalty is a big thing for us.

For people that have not previously purchased EOTopo, then they will need to pay $49.99 to purchase the Offline Premium Maps (this is much cheaper than the 200K was originally and is now improved scale to 144K and contains ALL Places on the map which the original 200K mapset does not).

As the app is linked to your ExplorOz profile, once you've bought EOTopo, you can download the maps to any of your devices running the Traveller app so you will only pay for them once.

Hope that explains it for you.

Not sure if it's in all states but officeworks seem to have 20 % off iTunes all the time

A good excuse to go out and buy some so you can download this great app

The new update looks to have resolved a couple of bugs and includes some nice extras too

Thanks
Mike

Thanks Michelle - I can see a lot of effort has been put into this programme by the EO crew & I will take advantage of it prior to next outing.

Cheers - Phil
