Exploroz Traveller iPad app question

When in the iPad settings menu and looking at the options for EO Traveller there is an option shown as "motion and fitness", can someone enlighten me as to what this is/means ?

Yes the Motion & Fitness came in with IOS10 (or maybe late 9 cannot remember). It is related to expanding the permissions requests for apps and is related to the accelerometer motion detector and one other sensor in the device.
We use the accelerometer to detect motion within the smart GPS manager code we use to shutdown the GPS if the device is not moving, to conserve battery. So for us to monitor the device we have to ask/set the permission. If you remove this permission we simply switch over to poll the GPS and keep it running more and thus will use more battery.

my thinking was you wanted to somehow monitor my fitness levels and number of steps to make sure i was getting off my bum and moving ;)
