Hi
I have an old (12 years) Piranha battery management system in my car which has suddenly begun making a clicking noise (much like the sound of your indicators blinking) and the green charging light also blinks off and on
Any suggestions what may be the problem?

1/Bad connection
2/ Faulty Aux battery or load connected to aux
3/ Faulty unit
4/ Alternator possibly on the way out

I've got one of those too.
The clicking is the internal relays pulling in and out. They will do that if the connections are loose. The green LED will drop out with dodgy connections as
well.
Unlikely to be a faulty unit, extremely reliable...

I think Malcom is on the money, but to add more detail.....
The "dodgy connections" that Malcom refers to may be anywhere in the circuit, in the input wiring, in the output wiring, or even within the auxiliary battery itself.

Aux battery is new - no more than 3 months old - problem only started a couple of weeks ago so I'm inclined to eliminate it fir time being
I do note that the clicking etc occurred on the two hottest days over the last few weeks - wonder if the under bonnet heat contributed to it somehow
Will
check out rest of system over next few days
