Stephen, we travelled south from
Alice Springs down the Old South Road through to Finke (including
Chambers Pillar) in late August. We got caught in a heavy rainstorm on
Hamilton Station, and ended up getting stuck in
Oodnadatta when they closed the road. Fortunately the road to
the Painted Desert was still open the next day, and as we had not been this way before, we headed down there, and on to
Coober Pedy. It sounds we were in the same vicinity as you at around the same time. Macca.

Hi Macca
That rain sure caused quite a few hold ups. You must have just behind us and our only real wet day was between
Marree and
Coward Springs.
It now gives a a good excuse to revisit the same area when it is dry. On the other hand when we went back to the Flinders in September, rain was a real issue and we had to change our intended plans and caused many vehicles to get stranded throughout the outback.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my Blog.
Safe travels during 2017.
Cheers
Stephen
