I am an extreme solo traveller. I cannot find other solo travellers on sites. So.. maybe out there are others who travel solo and would like company.
My plan... CSR.. have two vehiculas joining me. Alternatively.. have done the Gibb 7 times... would like company with like minded people. CSR first week of May.. join the convoy.
Otherwise.. looking for people interested from mid May for the Gibb.

Pardon my what may seem a rude response..........but you are an "extreme" solo traveller with the need to travel in the company of others.

Maybe I am still suffering NY confusion and you simply mean you are a "solo traveller" ie without partner or companion.

If it can be seen as a rude response why not reframe it?

And tell me, how does it help anyway?

Well I was wondering why an extreme solo traveller wanted company too. Therefore he was asking what it means, the context of solo. Most of us solo travellers stick to ourselves. I hope that helps you.

Not really.

If I said for example that I'm a four wheel driver and you replied 'how do you get to the bathroom then?' you'd be trying to extract humour from mixing up an identity statement with a statement about activity. And it'd be a poor effort.

mike39 is playing dumb but he's trying to get a kick out of point scoring.

Gents...

Mary-Anne is fielding a question as to whether anyone would like to accompany her on a trip down the CSR in May – it is pretty clear.

How about you put the swords away and just accept there might be times an "extreme solo traveller" might like some company?

Also a solo traveler (from Canada), maybe not so much "extreme solo" as simply from overseas. But I get it...solo travel is an amazing and personal experience, but company can sometimes make it just that much better.
I'll be doing a small section of the CSR, as well as the length of the Gibb (including Mitchell Falls) but not until mid to late June, so this likely won't work with your current plans, but if your plans shift let me know :)
Cheers, Steve

Hi Mary-Anne,
Welcome, never seen you post on here before.
Can you go into detail about being an "extreme" solo traveller please.
I'm planning to do GRR and like a challenge but not sure about the extreme part :)
Also you refer to 'vehiculas", can I ask what their experience is please.
Cheers,
Steve

Thank you for your welcome !
Perhaps I was a little excitable when expressing "extreme" I should clarify that I mean Isolated tracks ie CSR/Gunbarrel etc.
Its good to see there is a section for Grey Nomads travelling solo.
As much as I enjoy camping alone, some treks require support and it would not be mindful to do alone. Also, sometimes its nice to have company. I just figured there must be others in the same boat.
cheers
Mary Anne

Hi Mary Anne

You are so correct in what you say.

We have traveled to many out of the way places solo, including the Simpson, The Anne Beadell and many other great places in between.

Travelling with a great bunch of like minded people is great and you can meet some real great people.

If you are free in October, there will be the 100th Anniversary of the Joining of the Rails, just west of Ooldea. We are heading over at this stage solo, but with things panning out at the moment, there should be a great crowd and hopefully a way of meeting many great ExplorOz Members.

All the Best and enjoy this great site.

Cheers

Stephen
