Due to roadworks, access to the main attractions in
Kalbarri National Park will be limited to motor vehicles from now until
well into the tourist season. For much of the time the only way to get to these attractions will be as part of a commercial tour.

Kevin, it is good to hear that these roads are being attended to. We visited the area in 2015 and although we had a 4wd vehicle many people visiting had standard 2wd vehicles. Because of the heavy tourist traffic the dirt roads became very corrugated and potentially dangerous for standard vehicles. I was surprised that the roads to such an iconic tourist attraction were so poor. Nevertheless it does seem that the closures are a little extreme in that only commercial operators will be able to access the area for the period of road construction.
