Hi guys,
Has anyone traveled via the
walkers crossing road between innaminka and
birdsville? Wanting to get to innaminka the quickest way and looks like this road may be the way to do that.
What are the conditions like ?
Are you able to tow vans through ?
Thanks (:

What sort of "Vans"?
Conditions will vary greatly, when are you thinking of doing it.
It doesn't take much rain for it to be closed.

It's no worries for any offroader if there's been no rain. The first 40km from the
Birdsville Track turnoff is slow and rocky but the rest is good and
well signposted.

Fairly straight forward and I think it is a more scenic route than the alternative via Cordillo.
In terms of towing, we've towed our TVAN through there and if by Van you mean a reliable off-road unit than I wouldn't see that as presenting any problem.
As with any outback roads or tracks weather will be a key determinant. Go in good weather!
Bear in mind, that whole area is Criss-crossed with oil/gas exploration, so whilst remote, tracks are generally in reasonable condition.
Check conditions and if not wet go and enjoy!
Cheers, Baz-The-Landy

Thanks so much for your
feedback.
Im guessing if the weather conditions have been bad do they close the road ?
Positive thoughts and hopefully the weather is good in the first week of July (:

The last time I did it
Birdsville had some reasonable rain and Walkers wasn't a problem. You can easily make a
camp not too far from
Innamincka in a day!
Enjoy. Baz

If there's rain around there's a fair chance that the
Cooper Creek crossings at Walkers and
Innamincka will be impassable anyway - it was closed at
Nappa Merrie when we came through that way in June last year. You just need to keep good track of the weather reports.

Came through there 2 years ago with a 21 ft Kedron, no problem. Suggest keep very close eye on the road for signs. The best we had was a sheet of corregated iron on the ground with a stick holding it at 45 deg. Great trip.

Yep its entirely doable with an off road van PROVIDING it hasnt had rain on it recently. We did it in 2015. Great scenery and lots of camping spots. The roads on the easten end can be a bit confusing with the PAR and NOPARs running every which way but nothing a good map and a bit of nouse wont solve
Good luck
