Hi guys,

Organising a trip up north traveling from boulia to Mckinlay.
My iphone maps is telling me the quickest way is to go via the kennedy development road and then L) past mackunda downs to toolebuc?

However looking at the road map there is a road from Hamilton Hotel Ruins that travels up to toolebuc ?

anyone travelled either and which way is quicker ?

Thanks

Turn off at the Hamilton Pub will be quicker and shorter, but travelling up to the 9 Mile Bore and turning left through Mackunda will be the more scenic route. You'll pass through the Cawnpore hills, which are quite spectacular, and also up through the Toolebuc Gap, after passing Mackunda.

Bit over 30kms north of Toolebuc, you'll pass Cannington Mine on the left, and the road is then bitumen into McKinlay.

I did that road, McKinley down to the ruins of the old Hamilton Hotel in 92, it was a great track used by the station people and the mailman and was actually in better nick than the main road from Hamilton to Boulia
Great scenery and well off the beaten track.
Good luck and enjoy

It may have changed a tiny bit since 92.

Keep an eye in the road reports as quite a bit of flooding in the area at present. Not sure when you are looking to travel.
Enjoy.

Thanks for the advice, we are travelling in late May so hopefully conditions should have improved by then. Thanks again.
