I've bought a pair of scissor lifters for the pop top I am building.
https://www.caravansplus.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=408

My question is this: I know they are installed off centre when the roof is down.
But do they lift vertically or is there some sideways movement?

Can I install them front and rear with the springs facing outward, so that they are opposite hand front and rear?

Many thanks in advance.

The whole idea of the scissor lift is so that the roof lifts vertically, and yes you can and should install them so that they are opposite one another. If you check the major pop top caravan manufacturers you will find just that.

G'day Keith

Any luck figuring out how to mount the scissor lifts. Our AOR Quantum has 4 - 1 pair on the sides and another pair front and rear. Springs face out on all lifts. Feel free to PM if you would like me to do any measurements etc for you.

Cheers

Thanks John.
You have answered my question.
I looked high and low on the internet and none of the pictures I could find were close enough both ends to see what was what.
But, hearing what you say, I think as long as the central pivot point is centred from and rear it will be okay.
Incidentally, I learned from bitter experience to take more care unwrapping these buggers. Now I have a chunk of thumb and half a bucket of blood stuck on one of them.

Couple of extra ideals I fitted air bag lifts that I made myself now the wife can lift And also fitted adjustable inside poles so in big wind storm roof does not come down
