Guys,
The Vic Parks web site is currently showing
Davies Plain Track as closed but doesn't clarify which
gate is closed at the southern end (The first one stops access to Buckwong
Creek campsite, the 2nd after the
camp site) Can anyone tell me which
gate is closed please and if the Buckwong campsite/crossing is accessable.

It's locked just NE of Charlie
Creek camp site then at
Tom Groggin.
You should be ok to get into Buckwong Creek or even Charlie Creek from the SE along Buckwong track.

My mistake, I meant the NORTHERN end of
Davies Plain Track., There is a
camp site on Buckwong creek at the Northern end of
Davies Plain Track about 5 km south of the
Tom Groggin ford over the Murray. There are two gates one before the Buckwong
camp and one after so I'm trying to find out which one is closed?

Gazza, Finally I get where you are talking about. I was thinking up near the hut.
I think the
locked gate will be the first one nearer to
Tom Groggin. They talk about the track being closed due to flood damage. I assume they mean along the river there after that first
gate.

ranger at

Tried that and all they did was point me to their web site which says
"
Davies Plain Track is closed between
Tom Groggin Track and north of Charlies Creek
Camping Area until further notice due to flood damage and extensive tree fall."
Which doesn't help a real lot as
Tom Groggin Track starts at the ford over the Murray and he first
gate is about 4 KM from there.

Find out from the PV inquiry line which office is responsible for the area and ring them.

Tom Groggin Station in consultation with Vic Parks have locked off
Davies Plain Track at the Groggin end. The
ranger responsible locked the southern end last Wednesday while we were camped at Charlie Creek. Prospects of the track opening is currently in the hands of the Aboriginal Council to approve or disapprove repairing the track. Funding has been approved. Parks, like us, just has to wait.
Check the Vic Parks website for any changes. Seasonal closure commences 01/05/2017

Finally got thru to Vic Parks
Omeo Office and they tell me that the first
gate at the Northern end is locked so no access to the Buckwong crossing
campsite.
They don't expect it to re open until next summer at the earliest if at all?
It would be a shame to lose this track for ever??
