Hi Stevo

I did this track 2 weeks ago and it was fine. Entry has had medium sized grave put down and the exit was fine. Water was only up to the wheel hubs at the time.
Track up to Mt Pinnibar was good, even the steep section were in good condition, a little loose in parts but overall good.

Would love to be doing it again, happy travels

Greg

I plan to do the Mt Pinnibar Tk from Tom Groggin to Omeo in about two weeks, Stevo.

When you get back would you post a brief comment on how you found it? I'll have a newby in another vehicle with me.

Thanks Greg.

Hi George,

Once you get onto the Benambra/Corryong Road, turn off onto Tablelands Rd., this road will take you to Taylor's Crossing, a pretty spot with a long ford crossing the Mitta Mitta River. It's crossable only when the river is low. so check for heavy rainfall in the day's leading up to your travel dates. There’s also a suspension foot bridge and camping area which would be ideal to park up and do a bit of fishing.
If time permits, you could go via the old Post Office, check your maps for details, but nethterless, it's a nice detour along the Mitta Mitta River and keeps you off the bituman a bit longer.

Cheers
Greg

Hi George , had a good trip today. We went from Tom Groggin to Mt Pinnibar then Shady Ck Upper track to Wheelers Logging Rd. I was driving a 2002 Rodeo with no lift kit or diff lockers etc and just AT type tyres. Didnt have any problems , Murray River crossing was fine as Greg stated , maybe 200mm deep. The climb up to Mt Pinnibar has a few steep sections that I used low range. The decent down Shady C Upper track was steeper I think and looked like it would be real tough after rain. The views from Mt Pinnibar were amazing , 360 deg panorama and Mt Kozzie in distance.
I hope you have a good trip

The problem Gorge even with the latest reports is often they are out of date before you get there. This weekend up to 40mm of rain forecast so next week the crossing will be much deeper & the clay hill exiting Tom Groggin to the north may be very slippery.

Thanks Crackles - I'll keep an eye on the weather and the water level at Tom Groggin. I notice today that it's running at about 63cm.

Thanks again.
