It's a Toyota Rukus with suicide doors and big wheels.
At least the old FJ had retro look and feel to it.

Hope it goes OK off-road

Well I think that Mazda BT50 (later PX equivalent) headlights / taillights are a shocker, looks like Ken and Barbies shaggin wagon !!
The Mitsubishi Sport taillights are giving them a run for their money !!

Maybe not Gronk but its "predecessor" the FJ Cruiser concept varied very little from the production version.

Concept it may be but it doesn't appear to stray too far from the underlying pedigree and that makes its release entirely plausible!. My reckoning is that they'll use the exact same marketing strategy as they did with the FJ and hit the US and Arab markets first. If the uptake is good (usually judged by ARB being sufficiently interested to make a range of accessories for it), and they can be bothered with a RHD model, then three years later it will get released in Japan and Australia (and maybe India).

I was fortunate enough to do a test drive and review on the original FJ when it was released here in Oz in what seems a different epoch now (2011).

FJ Cruiser Review

Cheers

It makes Land Rover's DC 100 Defender concept vehicle look positively beautiful.

Bit early to call 'ugliest of the millennium' seeing we're only just 16 years and 4months in ? We soon forget that even what were truly 'ugly' cars have their following and some become very valuable classics , Ford Edsel anyone ? [ if you can find a good one you need to have won Lotto to buy it ] Leyland P76 ? A real good one now costs a bloody fortune !! Ugly = rare = possible $$$$$.
