Hi all.
Explore Australia trip planner tells me it takes 13 hours to do the 290 kilometres from Mt Dare to Finke.
It also says 7 hours & 20 minutes to do the 190 kilometres from Finke to Kulgera.
Can any of you confirm or update these time and distances.
Many thanks, Deejay.

Kulgera to mt dare is less than a day trip. they are pretty fast tracks for the most part. Google maps uses a 20-30 kph average. My wife is castigating me for allowing only one day to drive the strzeleki track when googles say it is something like 24 hrs drive time.

Finke - Kulgera is a formed road, 80kph, allow 3-4+ hrs overall if you detour into Aust's geographical centre @ Lambert Centre.
Road into L Ctr varies, but predominantly consists of sandy 2 wheel track(s)

I used trip advisor to rough[y plan my next trip and the same thing happened. The time stated didn't reflect the distance to travel. I made a few phone calls to the local police stations around the area I am about to travel, and stated my query as to travel times and where I got them from. The reply from the local coppers was; what ever trip advisor or google tell you, just divide the distance you need to cover by 70 (kph) and that will give you an approximate time. That will also depend on weather conditions, and to whether you are towing a trailer or not. I did note that some of the times where accurate the closer you got to major towns and cities, but not further out.

As mentioned, Finke - Kulgera is a fairly fast easy fravel road most times (as long as it's not wet !! lol) . . . Allow 4-5 hours for Mt Dare to Finke, it has more corros normally, a couple of gates to open / close around New Crown, and a few wash outs / bulldust usually in the creeks.
Lamberts Centre just west of Finke is a worthwhile detour, have camped there, not a bad spot, ok with offload camper and take it easy.
