Just finished crossing the Simpson from Mt Dare to
Birdsville with a distance of 577 km. I thought I would put up some fuel consumption figures as I thought it may be helpful for anyone planning this trip.
Landcruiser 200 used 109 litres.
Prado 150 used 110 litres
Both diesel vehicles and loaded with camping gear, fridge, 40l water, fuel
and spare wheel.

Hi Stewy
Some good helpful info ,for the uninitiated.
That was the type of info that helped me on my first crossing.
there used to be a section in
Treks years ago on here were you could put, all the relevant info, on vehicle type, distance and fuel usage,of your trip. i did find very handy.
The new
treks page appears more generic, and no personal trip notes on fuel usage, unless i'm missing something there?
Cheers Rob

In June 2016, we travelled
Birdsville-Mt Dare, via QAA, French Line, Knoll's Track,
Rig Road and western section of WAA Line in 2015 Landcruiser ute and used 103L. Return trip, via the Madigan &
Hay River Track, used just under 130L.
This year, in late May, did French Line solo,
Birdsville-Mt Dare in same ute and used just over 80L. Different story on the return trip as we travelled via Geosurveyors
Hill & the Geocentre, and used almost 177L.
