Hi Guys,
We have a Toyota Land Cruiser DX 80-series 1996.
It has screwholes in the roof of the cargo area. They seem the anchor points for the baby seat.
However I'm chasing the right bolt. Both size as well as safe enough to cary thr weight and force in case of emergency.
Thanks in advance,
Erik

Don't the bolts come with the seat fitting kit?
There would be very strict Australian Standards for this, maybe talk to the seat manufacturer.

The bolts supplied with it are too thick . The bolts used for the cargo barrier are too big??

Capsule mounts will be either in rear of upright seat section and uses a little hook to attach capsule tether to.

OR

Bolts into floor

Never known any capsule mounts to be bolted to the roof, put it this way in event of a rollover or severe head on impact the roof crushing in you want the tethers of capsule to remain tight and secure not loosen allowing capsule to fly freely.

go to a dedicated baby supply shop they will have the correct fittings and graded bolts or toyota can assist - don't risk safety of a infant/child period

Good point. As far as our research went. It sounds like it has to go in the roof.
As I want the safest possible,i haven't put it inn yet. As I have not found an appropriate solution.
May indeed have a chat to Toyota.

Thanks Phil G,

What bolt did you use? As the one provided is too big for the hole.
The bolt used of the cargo barrier is too fat for the anchor poit supplied with the seat??

Go buy the correct anchor bolt kit from almost any car accessory shop like Supercheap:Link Here
It will bolt straight into the roof anchor points on the 80series.
The photo below shows the 80series factory bolt with cover on the left and a SafeandSound one on the right. They both have a 5/16th bolt.

Go visit a authorized baby seat installer.
Toyota dont install baby seats.
.the installer will tell you what is required and it will be legally engineered to do the right job for the right baby seat setup.
mate had his done for under $300 .
Its fully compliant and legal

cheap when you need to stuff around and still guess is my baby seat secured properly.

If you have no luck, I had one installed and certified into the roof of my Patrol by Wilkinsons in Adelaide. Cost was around $200 but this was about 7 years ago.
