I was extremely impressed by the performance of my new ute the other nite. I race a brand new VW Golf of from the lights multiple times and won them all. this is extreme racing. the hilux has also performed pretty good on other challenges. but i would like to know its top speed without me having to actaully go and drive it and find out myself. my old hilux had a top speed of 160km/h and i proved that along the mitchell hwy, what a great open road that is.

and can anyone recommend any performance upgrades i could do to improve the stock performance of a 2.7lt 4 cyclinder hilux?

The Fast Fours Forum might be the place to ask.

Didnt mention anything about its fuel consumption!
Others find em drinking hard! Probably use more than a faster V6 Commodore which can be very economical as well as quick.
Cannot understand why Jap fours in petrol drink so hard!
Be interesting to get some fuel figures from 4wd's who have a V6 conversion with appropriate diff ratio changes!
Your 2.7 is already fairly highly tuned & a revver so maybe stretching it more might
really sacrifice reliability.

Replace the ECU with a 4 cyl Prado chip. A Toyota dealer told me they used to swap them over when taking potential buyers on a test drive. Then swap them back.
