Axle - Which vehicle are you referring to, as regards the engine? This engine is fitted to a range of Toyota models, and not all were affected by the injector seal problem.

The 120 Prado had an injector seals recall for '06 to '08 models with the 1KD-FTV engine.

This recall was limited to a certain number range in the vehicle VIN. The cutoff was 02/08.
The original copper seals were replaced by improved aluminium seals

As a follow on,

The early 150 from 09 to 2013 are fitted with weak pistons
If you have worn injectors, a power chip or do lots of heavy towing they can crack the pistons.

Toyota Australia ignore this but Toyota Europe and Africa have issued reworks and will replace pistons as required.

Have injectors checked for feedback values and factor in replacing them around the 150000 km mark together with cam belt water pump and valve clearance

Good engine if looked after Just don’t skimp or you are up for $8k for a new long motor
