Hi all,
I am a Vast
Satellite TV user, and very happy with the reception and service, but one thing that irks me is that if I don't use the service for a week or so, I have to re hit the satellite again to active it.
Why is this so, I would have thought that once you activate the service it would be good for around 6 months or more, it is annoying having to re hit the satellite so many times.
Admittedly I don't go camping just to sit and watch TV, but it is handy sometimes (read footy matches), am I doing something wrong?
Regards
Barry H

That is pretty normal, although a week is a bit short by my experience. Apparently the system needs to do a few security checks over the air every so-often. If you have the system set up, even on standby, it is able to do its checks and you wont have to re-hit.
BTW registration lasts 6 months on the dot. You can re-new up to 4 weeks in advance and get another 6 months from the expiry date.

I fiind there are very few programs I want to watch these days so I might go a week between programs. So I just turn it on about 4 to 5 mins before I want to watch something and it sorts itself out ok.
Cheers

I do the same.
When you are st up turn the tele on after you have found signal and go do something and it will sort it out.

Are you sure? When I have done it online all I needed was the smart card number.

I agree with Ron, they have no idea where you are unless you tell them. We can use our WA channels all over Australia and get the local WA news all be it a few hours later than local.

As we have an old unused Foxtel dish on the roof I replaced the LNB with a spare I had and when at
home I bring the sat box inside and connect to the house tv. So whenever we turn on the tv the vast system is activated. Handy when we go away on a trip it is always active immediately.
