Davies Plain Track, part of Parks Vic iconic high country Loop as shown in their brochures never opened last year and while "officially" it will open on the 30th November 2017 local Rangers and others hold grave doubts.
What we can do:
Raise this issue in other 4WD web sites
Raise this issue with Victoria's 4WD Association
Calls and emails to ParksVic 131 963
Calls to local Rangers at Omeo 03 5159 0600
asking if Davies Plain Track will be opened to 4WD access? will help.
Parks and their Rangers record every call and email to measure public interest.

It's up to us

Cheers

Thanks Dad , you can be sure we will do some of that stuff !

The damage done to many of our areas by national parks is such that I think its time to have some of them taken out of their hands and be converted back to state forests.

Good luck with that idea, while the major parties need votes from the Greens, that will never happen!

It was originally closed due to damage to the creek crossing from extreme winter rains down near the Murray crossing and was still closed over Christmas and New year.
To be fair the road to the pondage off the Alpine way also collapsed and NSW Parks had to close it. I don't know If it has reopened but probably as it is a hydro facility.
Judging by the amount of publicity re the snow this year the melt may be quite large with lots of water so maybe more damage likely.

The issue with the track last year was not Le Hardies Creek washout nor track repair and tree removal. The Parks were fully funded ready to go to fix the lot but could not.

The devil is in the detail.

This year erosion will be an issue of course but not insurmountable. Track repair is what these guys do and do well.

Get those emails and calls going members for a November 2017 opening.

I heard it was an issue with the indigenous land owners?

You have got it in one John.
Last year the funding was ready, Tom Groggin Bulldozer was ready but for inexplicable reasons the Indigenous Council, the traditional landowners, did not respond, thus the track remaind close.
No Yay or Nay. Just no response.
That is my understanding.

The concern is the same may happen in 2017 rendering no access.

Thanks Dad, it would be a real shame as Davies Plain is such a good drive. I have seen wild brumbies on each trip. I will certainly send an email to hopefully get it opened in Nov.

Dad, I may be wrong but I can see any evidence that there is any intention to close this track at all. To the Contrary, Parks promote this exact track in conjunction with 4wd vic as an Iconic track, and made a brochure on it.

I don't generally trust the way that Parks is infiltrated by Parks Association employees but I don't see any lock up happening here.

If I am wrong please let me know. I will be active too.
