Just saw this post and have alerted David since someone actually gave the specifics that it doesn't work on iOS 11 which is a new update and would be the reason. Something in that doesn't support the current code no doubt. He hasn't touched the code in the Forum so any change is due to an update of OS on your device. Those with Android that say it doesn't work - please confirm what version doesn't work. Reviews/Comment also doesn't work in iOS 11 and David knew this suddenly happened and is trying to identify the problem. Thanks

Hi Michelle,

The "Mark Page Read" button does not work for me either.

I am on an iMac running macOS Sierra ver. 10.12.6
Tried on the following browsers without success:
Safari ver. 10.1.2
Firefox ver. 55.0.3
Google Chrome ver. 63.0.3223.8

Also in "Search Options" clicking on "Auto Expand Unread" has no effect. It is necessary to click on "All" then click on "Unread".

Cheers

Still not working - the button used to go dark blue after I pressed it and a few seconds later the "updated" wording alongside new posts would disappear - now when I press it it just stays greyed out

I have 2 personal devices on IOS 11. Function doesn't work.
Company ipad still on IOS10 (last update). Works fine.

Therefore, it appears IOS11 has some bugs :)

Interesting - I just tested on Android, iOS and Windows and I could not fault it. I have made some changes late last week. If you have had the problem please retest and let me know when OS & Versions plus what browser you are using?

I cannot seem to replicate the issue - on any of my test platforms. Are you really using IE on Android?

I just tested using your profile and marked page 5 as read - there was only one, it worked fine. So it is not your user profile.

Can you please install the Chrome app - try Chrome and see if it works? You do not have to keep (so delete it after if you like) it I just want to know if it is a device or browser specific fault?

I know there is an IOS 11 problem and I am working on that but it is an iOS fault and not a Safari (browser fault) and also does not fail on a Mac so you can see some of these can be very specific and I need as much detail as possible.

Do you have some security app or something installed on the device?

Installed Chrome

When I click on the "Mark read" button which is grey) it does clear the "updated" wording - although the button stays grey (used to change to royal blue)

Re virus apps - I run AVG Free and Lookout - both of which I have had on my Samsung for some time

Hum so it works on your device with Chrome (albeit the button actions may be different) but it does not work at all in the Android Browser on your device running Android 6.0.1 is that the full description? Sorry I just need to check 100% and then find a device running the same to test it.

Hi David, something more that may be related. (As said, mine is kaput also)
In 'My Account Stats", it shows 'Account Type' as "Visitor" even though I am logged in as a 'Member'.
And 'Membership Expires' shows as "N/A"
If the system sees me as a "Visitor", would the "Mark Page Read" function be inhibited?
I have tried closing my antivirus & adblock and cleared cookies but to no avail.

EDIT @ 4:48 pm..... Definitely NOT logged in as a Member even though I have tried repeatedly. The "Member Only" benefits are not available to me.

LOL, this just gets even more confusing
1. Laptop - Toshiba
Windows 10 v1703 Build 15063.608
Chrome 61.0.3163.100
"Mark read" button stays grey but does NOT mark threads as read.
2. Tablet - Samsung Tab A
Android 6.0.1 Build MMB29M
Chrome 61.0.3163.98
"Mark read" button goes blue but does NOT mark threads as read.
3. Phone - Samsung Galaxy S5
Android 6.0.1 Build MMB29M
Chrome 61.0.3163.98
"Mark read" button goes blue and DOES mark threads as read - HOORAY !!!!
Curiouser and curiouser.

Judging by the number of people that are reporting having the same (or very similar) issues that I initially reported it would seem the changes you made recently David have definitely changed the functionality of the "Mark read" button

Any further suggestions?

Like many things in life, it's not until you lose it that you realise how much you need it ??

Could be a conflict with Win 10 and Chrome ?
Just not working in my preferred Chrome browser, but in MS Edge the Mark Forums Read button works fine.

Hi David

Further to my earlier email, I did observe the following last night.

Using my iPhone 6 and Safari…

I logged out of EO, cleared all browsing and cache and ensured all cookies removed. When I logged back into EO the ‘mark pages read’ worked in the way intended. I used it a few times without problem.

However, when I went into the ‘search and options’ function and changed the settings to order by ‘response time’ from the default of ‘thread ID’ the mark pages read function stopped working.

It appears to be an EO issue...

Cheers,

Baz – The Landy

Yes, hope this can be worked out for all browsers, it is a simple feature that should simply work.

Mine is still not able to Mark Page Read in my preferred browser Chrome on Win10, if only a few unread I'll just click em and back button to more or less quickly mark them read.

If more than say 4 or 5 unread, I'll now open MS Edge and it works in the blink of an eye to make threads read.

My observation is per above. It appears to work fine until I change order from thread ID to Response Time.

I've cleared the cookies and logged out it works fine until I change to Response Time and open unread.

I've passed this to David but he doesn't seem to be able to replicate my issue.

Cheers, Baz - The Landy
