We are now less than a fortnight away from this event and over the past year or so many EO members and forum participants have shown interest in attending.

I gather there may be at least 8 or 9 of us going and it'd be nice to catch up with each other as we never or very seldom meet in person. So would it be rude to ask who is going, what are they driving (so we can find each other), and what are their likely plans?

I'll be there in a white 2007 NS Pajero with KBC reg plates (WA) with a Trackstar forward fold camper, with 2 other vehicles, a gold 500GL Merc also with KBC plates and a blue F truck with KMC plates. I'll see if I can find an EO sticker to put on.

We should arrive on the Monday arvo from Watson, to the west, having driven up the Nullabor to Maralinga track that day. We'll probably push off back the same way on the Weds, or if the crowd is too much for us, after the event on the Tues. We will leave Kalgoorlie on Sat 14th and return Sun 22.

Hope to see you there.

Hi Paul

Fiona and I will be there in our black Prado and Ultimate camper.

I know another member and friend of ours, Chris Smith [ EO Member, IdlerChris ] from Victoria should be there providing he can get out of the desert. He is currently stranded at Neale Breakaway having been stuck there for 3 days and when he rang us last night, it was still raining.

I have also had a number of mm from other members saying they will be there, but will let them reply..

Our next concern is the heavy rain that is falling in the area, so fingers crossed, it will settle the dust and freshen up the area.

See you there.

Cheers

I was with Chris at Ross River for the EO National Gathering in 2015, so it'll be good to see him again. Apart from that it just looks like it's thee & me, Stephen!

Or the rest have all left already. Anyway, thanks for the reply and hopefully we'll see you there, if the rain stops long enough to let us in.

Cheers

Hi Paul

It is disappointing to see the lack of replies, as I know that others have said they are coming. I would like to know why they have not had the decency to at least reply.

Chris and his group of fellow travellers have been able to get out of Neale Breakaway and are now heading east along the Anne Beadell.

Have a safe drive over and looking forward to catching up with you.

Cheers

Hi Stephen

I have a mate from home who is attending but has already departed & is currently doing "Googs Track" before returning to Ceduna. I'm guessing he is well out of Mob range at the moment otherwise I'm sure he would have replied. He is driving a white GQ patrol & travelling with a Navarra.

Cheers,

Hi Allan

Cheers for that and I do hope there is a good turn out of EO Members.

It's not as if they have just heard about it, as I have been mentioning it here on the forum for 2 years to give everyone ample notice. I even booked my holidays at work 12 months ago, as this is one special historic event that I do not want to miss.

It will be great to meet as many new faces as possible.

Cheers

Stephen

Hi Rod

It was removed as being " inappropriate "

So it looks like they do not want to have the first images up of the event.

Cheers from a warm and windy Ooldea.

Oh well, Westprint Maps has a few photos of the new monument on their FB page. Must be appropriate for them to post.

Hi Rod

When I was on traffic duty today, Jo and Graeme came through and it was great to catch up with them, as we personally know them.

As part of the deal for free camping, I sold them 2 commemorative stubby holders for the grand sum of $5 each.

There is a good crowd now and a lot more expected tomorrow.

I have lots of photos as well, but seeing they are deemed inappropriate , I better not post them.

Cheers

Have fun. I was looking forward to it but a big project at work has come up which I have to personally work on.

I am sure it will be interesting.

Hi Tony

Yes work always seems to get in the way of the good parts of life.....lol

Don't worry, I will keep all up to date on a daily basis so you can still feel part of the event, even if not in person.

Cheers

Stephen and fellow EO members, Please accept my tardiness in responding. Getting organized is something akin to dog, bone and marble floor for me ATM. Fellow EO members, I'll be there in white Patrol (NSW) camping under awning.
Doing Maralinga on Thursday on way home.

Hi Paul

I know the question was who is going...(not who isn't!)

I had intended to attend and have been on the mailing list, but since I "graduated from work" a few months back I have been busy doing some very enjoyable things.

Unfortunately the timing for the event doesn't suit now, but I wish all those attending an enjoyable time at what I think is an important junction in Australia's rail history...

Cheers, Baz - The Landy

All good Baz. Hopefully your retirement will see you remain busy doing enjoyable things. Might try it myself!

There are maybe 100 vehicles camping here tonight.
The Indian Pacific slowed to walking pace as it went through.

So what was the consensus.. My friends called last night and said the heat was pretty exhausting. Around 40 Monday and Tuesday. They said there were no fires or desire to have them or socialise. Just do nothing to try to escape the heat.

They said it was like leaving the grand final straight after the event, with everyone rushing south back to the highway.

Dick was there but no sign of Macca?

Still I wish I was there.
