Place Review: Carmila Beach Rest Area

My Place Rating: My Rating 5/5

Can not understand the last comment. The date given 12th October could not have been correct. We arrived on the 11th October 2017 to find beautiful camp sites with plenty of space, shade and beach access beside the sites. There were just a few caravans. New toilet blocks were there with a dump point aswell. The council charge $10.00 per night per vehicle. How could one complain about that? Perfectly peaceful, a great place to relax.

Hi Traveller 41 - the date of 12 October is 10 years ago - 2007! Not 2017, so yes things would seem to have definitely improved which is good to hear.

Looks pretty good, last time I stayed there ( many many years ago) it was not "legal" but unofficially you could camp there for as long as you wanted, most were miners and stayed 2 weeks or a long weekend. No toilets then and first in best dressed, it helped that the local policeman was my brother in law.

The only problem with Carmila these days is that there is no longer any access to fresh water in the town. Great for a short stopover, but for anybody considering anything longer than 3 or 4 days, you will need to stock up water supplies in Rocky or Sarina.
