The latest (Nov 2017) issue of Silicon Chip magazine has an article about Satellite Phones.
The article is comprehensive, discussing the history of the phones and satellites of the current four providers.
It provides some comparison of the capability, coverage and call costs of these providers although it does not delve into alternate plans and implementation of diverse SIM cards.
Although including some technical detail, this can be bypassed without detracting from the essential account.
There are also a number of links to related information.
The article may be of some help to anyone considering the purchase of a satellite phone.
