I am looking at getting an HF for the Surf, I'm not too fussed on Selcall, it would be great but seems to be pushing the budget a bit.
I mainly want the radio for emergencies and listening to the VKS network while away for weather and other such info.
I was looking at PERTHCOMM HF 105 SSB REMOTE RADIO's and some older Codans.
Just wondering if anyone knows where in
Perth I can get the frequencies for the VKS network installed and how much it would cost me.
Also any other suggestions on Radios and antennas would be great.
Thanks guys.

HF radio in the sale collums , or try Terlins as they have tradein sets and can set it up for you ,if you have no luck there I can give you the name of the guy I got

Yeah thanks Bob, I've had a look their though, I have access to some very
well priced units, they jut don't have the frequencies for VKS-737, hence wanting to know who could do it for me in
Perth and how much it would be, so that I can work out if buying the cheaper radio without the frequencies is a better option than paying the big bucks and buying one that is already to go.

Yeah no worries, the HF's I'm looking at require crystals, so unfortuantally they are not as simple as plugging them in and programing, they have to actually be physically changed.
This Terlins mob, I did a search in the whitepages and on Google and got no responses, who are they, do you have a contact number or web page?

Hi Jeff,
The owner of Terlin Outbacker is Terry Clinch and he's been in the game for years.
Terry is also the WA Representative on VKS 737 and runs the
Perth Base Station. If he can't help you I'd be very surprised.

Jeff
I bought a s/h scout radio not all that old and had it converted to vks by vks head honcho, Steve Johnson, works great and cost $500 something, including a new tap antenna, am also going to have sellcall fitted for around $400.
