Gidday All,Has anyone out there have by any chance the vks737 crystals laying around that they want to sell.Or if anyone knows where I might get them from.

you have to join the VKS network to get the frequencies & be allowed to use them, costs $60. If you want crystals you must have a very old radio?

Gidday Bob,Have joined VKS and the radio is a Tracker Scout.Old but good.The crystal radios are sometimes better than the later ones.

With older HF units, you cannot just plug the crystals in. As
well as crystals, you will need a frequency counter and some alignment equipment to get the hf spot-on frequency and to tune the tx/rx up to that frequency. You would also need a manual.
Would not recommend going on-air without ensuring your frequency is within specs(illegal) even if you do have a vks737
membership.
Having said that, if you can source the expertise and equipment,
Beacon Crystals in SA are reasonably priced.

Give vks737 head office a call - they should be able to put you in touch with your nearest technician....had a Scout myself.......top shelf voice-only comms.....equal to anything else and usually better (but the voice-only limitation is not for everyone these days).
