Hi all. My wife and I are looking for some secure location to leave our car and van whilst we are away doing a 5 day tour north of Cairns mid 2018.

Any recommendations or should we simply enquire at local caravan parks etc.?

cheers,
Wayne and Julie

When we stayed at Coconut Caravan Resort in 2014 there were numerous vehicles and vans stored out the back. would be worth a phone call as I heard they didn't charge a fortune.
All the best

Yes, Cairns Coconut Resort would be a secure place and ample room.

Whatever you do, make sure it's totally secure (Derrr!) - but car theft in Cairns over the past 24 months is horrific. Places like the above which are just on the outskirts of town would be best. Perhaps even try Lake Placid Caravan Park or the-like around the Northern Beaches.

Yes, but can you afford the price?

Lake Placid CP. A lovely location to stay at and store your caravan at, far enough out of town.

Who is your tour company? They generally issue a list of places you can leave your van and they will pick you up from those places.

The above is the list from OZTours.

All the caravan parks require you to stay a few days with them. The following prices are the van nightly price followed by the powered site price.

Caravilla - $15 - $47
Lake Placid - $16 - $48
Crystal Cascades - $26 - $49

Thanks PeterD. I did notice on the Lake Placid website last night

"For those adventurers who have us book an OZ TOUR for them, we offer free vehicle and caravan storage. As a bonus, they will pick you up from our park and drop you back at the end of the tour. Ask us about it."

Too late, I have already booked. I have also booked into Caravilla. They only have a few places so I thought I had better get in quickly.
