I have a D035 V1. It great but it does get stuck with dust.

I see there is a new DO 35. But there is a AlKO click lock

Has anyone looked into comparing these properly.

Thoughts?

Have you tried to fit a air gun to your compressor hose?
Quality fittings air gun included available at Total Tools for under $30.

I have never used grease on any of my couplings, Tiger, Ozhitch, AT35, DO35 & DO35 MkII. I only ever use 2 or 3 drops of Triflon & I have never had one stick or jam.

Boobook - You need to use a dry film lubricant that contains Molybdenum Disulphide (MoS2), as these will still lubricate when filled with dust.

The soap filler or carrier in grease dries out rapidly when subjected to heavy dust, and the grease then acts as a binder in the joint.

MoS2's dry lubrication properties have been known for over 120 years, it is far better than graphite or the fluorocarbon products.

Loctite Moly Dry film lubricant

Cheers, Ron.

I don't think the lubrication is the problem, it's the design of V1

Me too. They are too easy.
My uncle has the Alko, it drives him nuts with the little tool he is forever losing.

I replaced the DO 35 with a hitch ezy, the quality of the manufacturing is better and less trouble to hook up..

Hi Tony, I use the 3.5 McHitch Auto Coupler. A bit fiddly at the start when getting used to height adjustment before coupling, but now that I have used it for over two years, I am a great fan. The actual coupling pin does not require any grease, you only need to grease the "uni" joints.

As well as the Auto Coupler, McHitch also make a "drop on" coupler.

Tony, to me the Alko looks to be a poor copy of the DO35.
The handbrake on the Alko is very primitive and they leave it off most of the photos. Can see it on their youtube videos - it sits up pretty high, negating the "low profile" of the coupling.
The sticking problem was addressed with the Mark 2 and 3 DO35s

Thanks for the only answer that actually addressed my question on EO Phil.

I have posted my question on a few other forums and got some similar meaningful replies.

Unfortunately it's getting harder and harder to get meaningful responses from EO. So much advice without reading the OP's question.....

Gday Tony, I know what you mean. Seems the same on most forums.

I'd go the DO35 Mark 3 - been thinking of finally updating our TVan hitch from an AT35. We run a DO35 Mk 2 on our caravan, and the hitch pins are the same with Mark 2 and Mark 3.
Can't believe that Alko comes out with a new product with a handbrake that looks and feels like it came out of the 1970's !!!

Have fun with trip planning for 2018. We are doing a bunch of shorter trips this year after 3 big trips last year. Getting back into the Simpson Desert this year after a 5 year absence, but hope to get out into the GVD again - its been a yearly event for us.

What is the difference between Mk2 & Mk3, other than the main body being cast as opposed to fabricated? From what I could gather from their release video it was only to speed up manufacture.

They say the Mark 3 is 50% stronger than a Mark 2 but nobody ever broke a Mark 2!!

Sorry Tony, just trying to give you some other option that is also not affected by dust.
