Has anybody been recently on the
Gawler Ranges Track from
Iron Knob via Mt Ive Station to
Kingoonya? And perhaps returned via
Lake Everard to Yantanabie or
Minnipa? We're thinking of taking an offload camper in late May so looking for condition of road, etc. How is the food at
Kingoonya Pub?

Recently? No.
Drove it in a Mini in 1970. Was no problem then and
Kingoonya was on the "highway".

Western side of Lake Gairdner 1970.
Again, too fast, in a 4WD F350 motorhome in about 1995. I recall that the gravel got thrown about quite a bit that trip.
Can not imagine you having a problem provided it is dry.

In January I went into the Ranges via
Kimba towing a 16' New Age Manta Ray Off Road Caravan. I was wet and slippery and as a consequence muddy, the day we drove in, but did not rain subsequently. We stayed in the Ranges for 3 days moving to a new
camp site each evening, and exited via
Yardea then across to Hiltaba and came back to the Eyre Highway at Pimbaacla. I had no problems other than the accumulation of mud on everything. Roads were
well formed and not rough tracks at all.

Food at the
Kingoonya Pub awesome. Great
free camp with wood supplied just across the road.

Agreed. I love that
camp spot. Pub is nice.
That noise that sounds like a 1.8km long freight train almost going through your tent every hour in the middle of the night is a .......1.8km freight train almost going through your tent every hour.
A bottle of tawny fixes that. My kid said he thought my snoring was a train on the half hour.
This is the
camp spot I think. Love it.

Agree with the above -
Kingoonya pub is great, and you certainly won't leave hungry or short of a conversation.

The main roads in the
Gawler ranges are continuously maintained by the government. Unless there’s been a recent very heavy rain event to damage them they are very passable. Sometimes will be a bit rough of course! They take a while to get over the whole lot.
Cheers and have a great trip in a great area.
