Can anyone please advise which wells on the CSR currently have good water available?
Rather a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy!

At this present time the Canning is impassable between wells 23 and 26 with a 620 km detour via Rudall NP and Telfer mines if you want to complete it. .I suggest you to join the Canning group to see this information and much more. Three of us EO members will do a section of it in late June. Entering at Well 33 and exit on the Puntawarri track as part of a six week remote trip. https://www.facebook.com/groups/canningstockroute/ Water at wells CSR ,posted by one of there members a few weeks ago
Well 05 - restored in 2004.

Well 06 (Pierre Springs) - water should be drinkable.

Well 12 - rebuilt, bring your own bucket and rope.

Well 15 - reconstructed, bring your own bucket and rope.

**Well 18 - rebuilt, the water should be clear but may taste salty.

**Georgia Bore - the water from two large tanks tastes pure and should not require treatment.

**Well 26 - fully restored.

**Well 33 - windmill and bore producing high quality fresh drinking water.

Well 41 - subject to flooding, restored in 1994, has provided excellent drinking water at times but "quality is highly variable". The water is sometimes a bit beer coloured (not a problem), but if it's cloudy it will clog and ruin filters.

Well 46 - restored in 1991, excellent water.

Well 49 - reconstructed well, Beautiful water

Not that it matters but tanks at CSR Georgia Bore are no longer there (removed maybe a two or three years ago)...original hand pump is back in action and water as good as ever.

Cheers
Greg
I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Thanks for the update. Am anticipating South North in early July. Hopefully track will be open then.

Hi DB, we did the Canning in 2013 from well 5 to 23. Fabulous trip in early May towing an old Campomatic. Check out all the pix in Places at each well to get an idea of campsites and well and water quality. We figured that there was good water every 4th or 5th well so did not carry too much at all. Take care with the bucket at well 6 as it came to grief when overloaded and sank. Should be great flowers with all the rain up there..... W

Travelled north to south last year exiting at Georgia Bore and i'm glad that we didn't rely on any of them for water. Smelly, salty and just didn't appeal to us.
I wouldn't rely on them for drinking.

Last time I carried my own water for drinking and used the bores for showers etc. I just couldn't remember which had good water, other than the obvious.
What month did you travel last year?
Thanks for your update.

We travelled in April last year, Georgia Bore wasn't too bad. People with us used it for washing some clothes. We have 2 x 70lt tanks on the camper and had a 20lt jerry on the rear bar.

Have a great trip, can't wait to get back.
