A friend has a 4yo Hilux twin cab ute. In
the tub on the front wall are two holes covered by metal covers secured by two phillips head screws which are on the outside of
the tub between
the tub and the rear of the cab. These two holes are leaking water into
the tub. Does anyone know what these holes are for, are they known to leak, what is the best way to seal them?

I have a similar model and know the plates you speak of, I have looked at using them but its impossible to get them off without taking
the tub off, I have not noticed if they leak or not.
How does he get water in from them? is it from driving through deep water of from rain and washing?
Only way I could think of to seal them would be to give them a good clean with turps from
the tub side and wiping silicone into the seam then cleaning the excess off with more turps.

When it rains water enters from between
the tub and the rear of the cab. Three hours labour to r&r
the tub from his local Toyota dealer.

Hi Mikee5
I don't have one but some utes have the holes there to let air flow under
the tub liner if you have one in. With no tub liner they come with plates on the holes, if these are the one in question.
