We are travelling to Roxby, Oodnadatta, Mt Dare, across SD to Birdsville the down to Maree in August.

Can anyone give me some idea of the cost of diesel at these stops at the moment please.

Hi Russ
Roxby diesel is at the $1.11/L. It can go up at anytime specially on the weekends to $1.15 as it was last week. There is only two servos ,BP in town and Mobil 9 kms down towards the borefield road.Ask again when you get closer to your depature.

Russ,
Click on "On the Road" at the top of this page, scroll down to the Fuel Price and follow the prompts.

Russ

I was up that way a month ago.

Maree $1.08

William Creek $1.34

Oodnadatta $1.24

Mt Dare $1.25

Birdsville $1.05

Keep in mind there has been a bit of up and down on the world fuel prices since then, however I don't think it will have changed too dramatically.

Willam Creek is pure poison on the fuel price.

Hey Ruth,
If you leave now there's still time to come down for some EO hospitality @ Berri.

Cheers,

I asked the Same question a few days ago and was told to look it up on the above fuel price site. The site didn't cover smaller towns like Maree,Mt Dare , W creek Tibooburra etc. I was wondering if more people on their return from their trips could enter fuel prices of the smaller towns. I am just as much to blame as any one else about not entering in fuel prices but I will now endeavour to do so. It is very handy when planning your trips. Look at the difference between Maree and W. creek. With my 180L tank Maree would cost me $194, W Creek would cost me $241

Hi Russ... Remember to take spare fuel filters.....
Mt Dare is a bit outta the way on that trip isnt it?...
Should be able to cruise through from Oodnadatta and go straight across....
My mate only used 199litres in a petrol patrol and i used 127litres in a diesel and that was going across via the rig road...

Ooops! all

Checked the slip when I got home

Mt Dare should read $1.35 per litre for Diesel.

As for fuel consumption across the Simpson, I used 95Litres from Mt Dare to Birdsville across the French line against those 'interesting' wind blown dune crests.

Next time I do it, Mt Dare will not be on the Itinery I can assure you.

You guys have got some slurpers.
Oodnadatta to Birdsville via French Line 71 litres in 91 Triton 2.5td.
No real troubles with the sand hills but did travel fairly light apart from
some jerry cans & water & food.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Nice to know what to expect, we will be going regardless of the cost of fuel.

All our vehicles are diesel, so hopefully will not have some of the heavy consumptions mentioned here.
