Hi Folks
We're travelling to Western Qld in a couple of weeks via Walget,
Hebel and
Dirranbandi in our Patrol and 7 metre van.
I want to go to the
Nindigully Pub (doesn't everybody !) and we're thinking of taking the Noondoo
Thallon Road.
Has anybody travelled across that way recently?
All comments appreciated.
Thanks
TJ

Is last year recently enough :O.
After enquiring,
Thallon to Noondoo was the route recommended for us to head west on. The road was in very good condition and an easy drive towing. One further south, from a little way north of Mungindi through to
Thallon was not recommended to us.
We did what you are proposing in reverse.

Most of the back roads in that region are red or black soil as compared to gravel.
This means generally smooth easy driving.....but during/after rain look out, treachery abounds.
Also the deep wavy grooves left behind are not appreciated by the locals.
The painted silos at
Thallon are very photographic with a free
camp spot adjoining. Pub does a good cold ale atnd meals also. Enjoy your visit.

From our drive trough that road a few years ago I don't remember any gravelled or natural form road. I remember it as being a two lane sealed road.
Am I correct MH?

I was thinking it was was unsealed between
Thallon and Noondoo Peter, but I can't be sure now. We go on a lot of unsealed roads and only remember the shockers. But looking at other forums, it does appear that is it sealed. So it seems you remember better than me, and TJ will have an easy drive.

Went to the pub last year, first time for a decade. This place has a
heaven-sent, captive customer base, due to the
free camping adjoining them. Shame they make next to no effort with mediocre food, service, ask for a choice of wine variety: “sweet or dry”. Yep.
Berri cask.
Toilets and showers not good. This place should be (probably is, anyway) a gold
mine but next to no maintenance. Had some fantastic stops and meals at outback venues but not here. Need to lift their game. Great place to
camp, though.
Now I’ve lowered your expectations, you might enjoy it. ;)
Great stop at
Dirranbandi. Great pub and free showers at the truck lay bye.
