Just making sure before installing. Can the
orange wires coming out of the lights be either negative or positive. eg, can either wire be - or +. And is this because of the plastic mounts

Hi Mik,
I just got some 170's 2nd hand and connected a + and a - to each light and they work fine.
I was wondering why the wires were the same colour but it doesn't matter as they aren't dependant on polarity because they don't use the body as an earth.
The power is wired directly to the wires, and as long as you have one of each polarity connected to each light you should be ok.

Short answer yes.. if they are the 240's you can unscrew the side plates on the 'legs' and see what is what if you wanna make sure.
